BRIEF PROFILE

Dr. Alice Villalobos Founded and served as Director of Coast Pet Clinic of Hermosa Beach Inc., the Animal Oncology Consultation Service and the Animal Cancer Center since 1974. She built the first private radiation therapy facility for pets at the Animal Cancer Center in 1983. She also ran three outreach clinics for pets with cancer and supervised four matching internship programs. In January of 1998, she partnered with the Veterinary Centers of America (VCA) and with her excellent staff, continues to provide general practice, 24 hour nursing care and her oncology referral service under the new name, VCA Coast Animal Hospital and Cancer Center.

Dr. Villalobos is Founder and Trustee of the Peter Zippi Fund for Animals which aids 350 to 400 homeless animals each year and helps support education programs and the radiation and cancer therapy services of the Animal Cancer Center. Every fall, a special fund raiser is held at the famous Magic Castle in Hollywood. She is a founding member of the Veterinary Cancer Society and one of the initial supporters of Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI). She serves veterinarians in the U.S.A. and Europe by consulting and lecturing on cancer therapy in animals since 1972.

Dr. Villalobos earned a B.S. at U.C.D. in 1968 and her Doctorate at U.C.D. in 1972. She received specialized oncology training under the mentorship of Dr. Gordon Theilen at U.C.D. and served as Research Affiliate with Dr. Hal Snow and more recently with Dr. Leslie Bennett of the Rigler Center, Dept. of Radiology at U.C.L.A. for 20 years. She has published articles in the field of oncology and related subjects.

Dr. Villalobos is often featured on the network news, numerous T.V. and radio shows, Professional Journals, Magazines, News Papers and Who's Who in Veterinary Medicine, Who's Who in California. She has been a columnist for several newspapers (Daily Breeze, Animal Press, Beach Reporter, Easy Reader) and publishes a quarterly newsletter for her colleagues known as Neoplasia Newsflash. She also hosted an educational T.V. show called BEST FRIENDS. Dr. Villalobos recently went before the City Council of Hermosa Beach to issure special permits to allow environmentally responsible pet owners permission to walk dogs on leash at the wet sand beach. The request was front page news in the L. A. times, the Daily Breeze and the Beach Reporter.

She is a past president of the Sierra Veterinary Medical Assoc., South Bay Chapter of S.C.V.M.A. and The U.C.D., School of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Assoc. She is a an A.A.H.A. Hospital Director and member of C.V.M.A., A.V.M.A, V.C.S., V.P.I., V.A.S., V.E.S., A.A.U.W., Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach Chambers of Commerce, Hermosa Beach Ski Club and is currently V.P. of Independent Veterinary Alliance.

Dr. Villalobos gave the keynote commencement address for Saint Mary's Academy in June of 1998 and was selected as Woman of the Year by the Alumni Association.

At Commencement in 1994, The Faculty of the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of California, Davis, conferred upon Dr. Villalobos the distinguished Alumni Achievement Award "IN RECOGNITION FOR HER PIONEERING ROLE IN INTRODUCING CLINICAL ONCOLOGY INTO VETERINARY MEDICAL PRACTICE FOR THE BENEFIT OF COMPANION ANIMALS AND THEIR OWNERS."
