Notes From the Vet

Don't Hesitate Vaccinate

Many preventable diseases are a threat to your pets' health. All dogs and cats need vaccines starting from 7 weeks every 21 days until 16 weeks and yearly thereafter. Parvo is a fatal, highly contagious infection of the digestive system that strikes puppies and adult dogs. It spreads from solid ground and air! Distemper kills pups and adult dogs by attacking the intestines, lungs and brain. Dogs who board need Bordettella and Corona vaccines to fight contagious kennel cough and diarrhea. Lyme Disease Vaccine is not needed in this area. Cats need respiratory and cat fever vaccines. Outdoor cats benefit from the new Leukemia virus vaccine. Don't get the FIP vaccine. All dogs and outdoor cats should be vaccinated for Rabies. New Rabies outbreaks trouble cats in the east, but only dogs are required by law to get vaccinated! Your vet knows best when and what vaccine to give your pet.
