Holistic Pet Medicine
Coast Pet Clinic and Animal Cancer Center is proud to announce that Dr. Kathleen Carson has rejoined the staff. Dr. Carson has a special interest in feline medicine, holistic medicine and pet loss counselling. Our staff is delighted to learn about the various remedies and options including Bach flower drops to balance emotional conditions and acupuncture for pets which Dr. Carson offers. Surveys in human medicine show that people seek options for treatment of resistant medical problems. One third of office visits for human health are known to involve alternative therapy. Over the years many pet owners who were referred to us for cancer care were also using holistic medicine remedies to help their pet's immune system or emotional state. Many of our clients inquired about acupuncture to treat arthritis, allergies, etc. After surgery, chemotherapy or radiation pet owners would take their pet to one of the two holistic vets in the San Fernando valley for "detoxification." These devoted pet owners spent their day to get a combination of approaches to treat their pet's cancer. A relationship between our Animal Cancer Center and the holistic practitioners developed over the years where it was understood that we would give the cancer killing chemotherapy and they would detoxify the patient. Many of these pets did very well! Dr. Carson has spent the past several years studying with the experts. She now serves pet owners who want to take advantage of both branches of medicine for their pets with poorly responding illnesses or cancer. Appointments may be scheduled with Dr. Carson at Coast Pet Clinic and Animal Cancer Center Sunday through Thursdays most of the year.
