What is a Premium Cage?

Good question! For over 20 years California Cage(r) has been the leader in cage design and safety. Our competitors have flattered us by copying our cage designs almost as fast as we create them -- but they have not copied California Cage quality and safety!

California Cages(r) are:

• Manufactured with United States #1 Grade Steel and Components. We use no foreign steel, only pure cold-rolled American steel. Foreign steel quality is inferior and may contain unsafe trace minerals. Much of foreign steel is salvaged from varying recycled material, such as old cars. Our specially made crocks are human grade, high-fired, lead free porcelain that are resistant to breakage.
  
• High-Tech M.I.G. Welding and Jigs Assure High Quality. Unlike some of our competitors, we do not bolt our cages together. Our cages are Metal Inert Gas welded to assure perfect melding of all framing, bars and grating. This eliminates messy splatter common with regular rod welding and creates a stronger, more durable joint. All cages are made in a jig - insuring perfect squareness and uniform spacing every time.
  
• 100% safe and Durable Powder-Coated Finish. California Cage(r) is the leader in cage safety!. Some cheaper cages use enamel spray paints and coatings of foreign origin. Other companies using powder-coating may not have gone to the extra expense or effort to insure the lowest levels of zinc possible. When you buy a California Cage, you will know that every batch of USA made coating material is custom made and lab tested to meet our ridged requirement of 10 p.p.m. of zinc or less.
  
• 3 Step Coating system: 1. After welding, our cage is sand-blasted to clean and pit the steel surface. This insures a better adhesion of the Powder Coating. Other manufacturers use acid! 2. The cage is electrostaticly charged to insure a thick , even application of the powder-coating material. 3. We then bake our cages in a super heated oven to liquefy and harden the coating for a most durable, long lasting finish.
  
• 37 Different Quality Control checks. We devote more people to quality control than to the actual manufacturing process! Every weld is hand checked. In many cages the number welds can be over 200! This ensures that you receive the best quality product. A product that you will be proud to display in your home with your prized feathered friend!
  
• Quick-Release skirts and Slide out Grates for easy cleaning. Our Newly designed quick-release Seed Guards are easily removed. And our one-piece cage grate on the bottom slides out. These features make it easy for you to thoroughly clean your birds home. These features are so unique, they are patented!
  
• Stainless Steel lock and Special Protective Packaging. Stainless Steel locks are rust proof and give your bird added safety. And all cages are specially padded and shrink-wrapped to protect the cage during shipment.
